Graphing

by Jennifer Asimow

For some reason I have noticed a lot of teachers graphing with children lately. I’ve seen some great examples and some not-so-great examples of this math activity. In fact, I’ve seen so many examples that I want to dedicate the month of May to Graphing with Young Children.

The fun part is that I have pictures and even a few videos of these graphing activities. You will see how wide the range is, how many techniques there are, what works and what doesn’t. I will explore ways to improve on certain methods and look at ways to deepen the mathematical underpinnings of the activities.

Check back next Thursday for the first post about Graphing with Young Children.
