Magnetic Manipulatives

by Jennifer Asimow

MagnaformersThis morning, when I was walking my pugs, I passed by Timeless Toys, our local toy store. There in the window were several sets of Magformers- a new take on MagnaTiles (maybe not so new, but definitely new to me). I knew it was only a matter of time before the fabulousness of MagnaTiles would create spin-offs. These looked really cool. They come in all sorts of shapes and provide extra pieces like wheels (to make moving vehicles). Check them out here.

  1. I have never heard of these in any shape or form, but I\’m sure the boys I care for would love them. Great idea.

    1. Hi Susan,
Magnatiles seem to be the HOT new toy (I am saying new even though they have been around for awhile). They are really well made and have infinite play possibilities. They are a little bit expensive, so I have seen programs start out small (with one or two kits) and then add to them over time. The ones in this blog are like Magnatiles- meaning they seem to do the same thing- but have different shapes and they look different. I am not endorsing these, since I haven\’t seen them in action with children, but I am endorsing Magnatiles. Well worth the investment. If you ever have a \”Wishlist\” for things for your program, you should definitely inlcude them
      Thanks for reading.
      Jen
